So a few days ago I see that a contest at a BBQ blog site, Huck’s Hut which is a great site that I enjoy reading and one of their occasional writers is Doug Francis of Hogs Gone Wild BBQ whom I had the pleasure of meeting once last January while I vacationed in Florida.
At any rate the contest was interesting to me as instead of the standard entry procedure of leaving a comment… Huck’s Hut asked for entries to include a new slogan for their site.
Looking at the suggestions that were made by others I thought they were pretty good but I decided to be a little more risque with my suggestion so I came up with “What the Huck are you waiting for”
Well it seems that the guys at Huck’s Hut liked my slogan and they awarded me with the prize!
Here is what I won first off an 18 piece Mr. BBQ Tool set in a gorgeous case and also a Mr. BBQ Hydro Grill Blaster
This is not the first time that I had won something from a blog, in the past I have won some C-Dub Rub and my biggest score was a Masterbuilt Electric Smokehouse, that I really enjoy.
The point I am trying to make is that there are people out there that have opportunities to enter contests on line and it seems that most people do not enter. This may be for different reasons, perhaps they believe that all giveaways are either scams or just away to spam the entrants or that they just believe that they will not win.
Well I can tell you that the above just is not true. Many companies supply product for blog writers for review or as a giveaway because the advertising value of having the product seen by more people pays for the promotion big time.
I have done a few giveaways in the last year with Butter Bell and with Grill Charms to name a couple and while I had some decent entries the numbers were lower than I would of expected. (even though the blog posts did get a great number of page views.)
So next time you see a contest go ahead and enter, your luckier than you think!
