I was honoured when Larry Gaian asked me if I would like to take part in his 4 ingredient challenge this month. Being only a backyard BBQ’er with very limited skills I took this as a definite challenge not only for the group involved but for myself that I could even make an attempt.
I love to write about BBQ and I cover a lot of people, news and events along with the odd recipe that I try to duplicate or try to make something interesting from a combination of other things I have read or have seen.
This months challenge has a July food of the month theme.
It should be noted that….
July is National Hot Dog Month
July is National Blueberry Month
July is National Baked Bean Month
The fourth ingredient added was…. Dill Pickles
When I saw the ingredient list I decided to do a variation of a chili dog using a recipe I have done before for baked beans but with a few changes.
So lets start with the Baked Beans part of this experiment.

Add a chopped half of a green pepper, a half cup of brown sugar, 2 Tbsp of mustard and 2 Tbsp of Worcestershire sauce

Half of a cup of BBQ sauce, I used Hak's Chipotle Bourbon (Blog review of this sauce in coming weeks)

Now we can add the bacon which is chopped along with 2 cans of beans and 1 can of Blueberry Pie filling
For me I enjoyed the vast array of flavours that this produced. It was fun to be involved in this challenge but I am not the only blogger that is contributing.
Please take the time to visit some of my peers that also took the challenge and came up with some wonderful recipes. I was thrilled to be added to this great group of bloggers.

Bob started Bob’s Brew and ‘Que in August of 2009 with the intent of sharing his views on food and drink.
