I first heard about Big Moe’s Burgers when I was a guest at the 1st annual TO Foodfest back on July 29th 2012 (note to self… Fred you still have to write a blog post on that event!)
It was a great event that showcased many fine foods in a variety of types of delicious items.

The Big Moe’s Burgers vending booth at the 1st Annual TO Foodfest in Scarborough, Ontario July 29th 2012
When I was at the TO Foodfest the line up for food was long at Big Moe’s Burgers and since we had sampled other foods, Joe and I just had no room for more food so we missed the chance to try them out.
This is a young business having just opened their Markham location back around October 2011 and they have 2 more locations that are opening very soon in Scarborough and in Mississauga as well
While on business in Markham this past week, Joe and I visited the Markham restaurant located at Kennedy Rd. and Steeles Ave. to give this a try.
As you can see in the photo above yes it does say that they sell Funnel Cakes.
Around these parts the only place I see Funnel Cakes is at Ribfests and carnivals. so I thought that was pretty awesome.
They also make the Tornado Potato chips which are a cross between Potato chips and french fries. which I first tried at a Blue Mountain BBQ comp in 2011 and they are tasty.
But I did not order any of that on this day, As today Joe and I were both looking forward to having a “Juicy Lucy” which makes me giggle since any time I hear that name I think of a burlesque dancer that had that stage name back in the late 70′s in Toronto, and if this burger is half as good as she was…….. well I guess we should keep this clean
The Juicy Lucy is a hand made stuffed burger that has in the middle of it some gooey cheddar cheese. All of the burgers are made fresh every day, nothing frozen here folks!
Joe ordered a Juicy Lucy with a drink and I had the Juicy Lucy combo with Fries and a side of Gravy.
I am about to bite into my juicy Lucy and you can see that the cheese had already escaped it’s pouch and was looking really good!
The Juicy Lucy is an amazing burger, that was just as promised very Juicy!
The meat was cooked just right, I had heard from somewhere (may of been Ted Reader) that when you cook a cheese stuffed burger that you know it is done correctly when the cheese starts to ooze out of it.
The bun was very soft and they did toast it, though maybe because of the toppings I selected but the bun quickly became sloppy and wet in parts.
A quick thought on the fries and gravy, the fries were so good! What I really liked was that they were not greasy in fact, the cup they were served in had no grease in it when they were finished.
I am glad that Big Moe’s served the gravy on the side because I used it for dipping and personally I did not care for the gravy taste., Joe’s best guess was that the gravy had too much sage in the recipe.
Would I go there again, yes I would and next time I would try the funnel cake, it was just that on this day I had no room for the extra treat.
I will have to tell my friends the Burger Broads (Facebook) about this great place, who knows maybe one day they will check them out.
Oh by the way there is a group on facebook that is called Burger Finds and on that page the members talk about various burger joints around Toronto and its surrounding area. If your a big burger fan join in.
